LP - Foster Care Coach
A Foster Care Coach will work closely with the Foster Care Supervisor, foster care staff, and foster parents in providing support services to children and foster parents of La Paloma Family Services’ programs. These services include individual and group training, assisting foster parents, advocating within the child welfare and behavioral health systems and ensure the families maintain licensure standards. The Foster Care Coach will also coordinate with outside agencies, schools, and agencies in the provision of these services.
Training and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Psychology, Child Development or related field.
Minimum two years of the experience in child welfare or human services, specifically monitoring and licensing foster homes. Previous experience in writing home studies and assessments of family systems. Excel in the area of time management, organization, and meeting deadlines. Certified Foster Parent College Trainer, or willing to become certified. Experience working with kinship families.
Bachelor’s degree in unrelated field or Associates degree in child welfare related studies or High School Diploma with 2 years work experience in social services.
One year that can be a combination of education, experience and completed training in the area of child welfare or human services. Excel in the area of time management, organization, meeting deadlines, ability to relate well with families of carried lifestyles, backgrounds, and ethnicities; ability to assess a family’s strength and weaknesses, experience in mediation and other interventions, and ability to recognize signs of abuse/neglect in the foster homes.
